Explorer Scouts are young people,  aged between 14 and 18 years old. Explorer Units are run by the District and Northcote hosts the Spaniorum District Explorer unit, providing a natural progression for our older Scouts.

Explorer Scouts run their own programme with help and guidance from their Leaders.  Explorer Scouts, get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in the District, not just in the Unit at Northcote and therefore take part in a wide range of activities and awards. As a member of The Scout Association you can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and King’s Scout Award. This is done through being a member of an Explorer Scout Unit or the Scout Network. The Chief Scout’s Platinum Award, the Chief Scout’s Diamond Award, and the King’s Scout Award have similar requirements to the D of E Bronze, Silver and Gold awards (respectively).

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
