Beaver Leader:Tues & Wed 6-7pm

12 February 2017

Our Beaver Scouts meet weekly and we are looking for adults to help on a regular basis on a Tuesday & Wednesday evening 6-7pm, as part of our team of leaders. Our leaders work flexibly together, so if you can’t be there every week that’s ok, we understand and welcome you when you can come. You need to enjoy working with children and have a good sense of humour. You need to have common sense and be open to learn and have new experiences.

Beaver Scouts (6-8yrs) are the youngest section of Scouting, but this doesn’t stop them from enjoying all we have to offer. They can try outdoor activities, have the chance to be creative, explore their local community and take part in residential trips. Their weekly programme of activities is all about inspiring enthusiasm and having fun. Our volunteer leadership team are the ones that work together to plan and deliver these activities, some bring skills with them when they join; others develop their skills while working with us. Our leaders are normal people just like you, but by working together they make extraordinary things happen! One week you might be playing parachute games, the next getting crafty making puppets, the week after taking the Beavers to an archery taster session or making a structure with spaghetti (yes spaghetti!) – we call this pioneering. What we can guarantee is that no 2 weeks are the same as the children do different things each week to earn their badges and awards.

If you are keen to try new things, have fun and give our Beaver Scouts new challenges then why not join our team of adults. Full training and support is given to all our volunteers to make sure our Beaver Scouts are given exciting opportunities that they will remember for years to come.

Our young people meet on the same evening each week during term time, so new volunteers would commit to attending on a regular basis. We support flexible volunteering around shifts and other commitments, so this doesn’t have to mean a weekly commitment. The Scout Association is a voluntary organisation, and you will not be paid for your role. However, no adult should feel that cost prohibits them from taking up a role in Scouting, and we are committed to reimbursing out of pocket expenses for all volunteers.
